…one thing I know, that,
whereas I was blind, now I see.
John 9:25
This is the story of a man born blind from his birth. It is one of the most beautiful testimonies of the Deity and Omnipotence of the Lord Jesus Christ. As Jesus passed by the man, His disciples (yes, His disciples) asked him…
Master, who did sin, this man,
or his parents, that he was born blind?
Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned,
nor his parents: but that the works of God
should be manifest in him.
John 9:2-3
Jesus went on to spit on the ground, make clay of the spittle, put it on the man’s eyes, send him to the pool of Siloam to wash away his blindness. This brought all kinds of arguments and ridicule, to the man and Jesus.
Jesus later again met the man. And revealed His Deity to the man. The man believed Jesus was Who He said He was.
John 9:25 is a parable about the Spiritual Birth. ALL are born spiritually blind. That is everyone physically conceived. But by the miracle of the Supernatural Spiritual Birth a sinner has had the scales removed from his blinded eyes and given the Spiritual gift of Seeing and believing/trusting in Jesus Christ for the New Birth and salvation.
The miracle and New Life is repeated over and over with each New Birth of every Saint. Whereas I was blind, now I see!
