There is a very interesting verse in 2 Chronicles, chapter 7, verse 14…
If my people, which are called by my name,
shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face,
and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven,
and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
There is every reason to believe God will deal with His people the same way at all times in history.
It is important to note that God said wicked ways. He did not say wicked acts. The Hebrew here is specific: ra’ derek. Evil, wretchedness…a course or mode of life/action, custom, journey. God is speaking not of the typical sins we might think of today, but a way of life that was not of God.
Three ways that are definitely not of God.
1. Unbelief of Truth.
2. Unforgiveness to others.
3. Unappreciation of God.
It is a good study to research and meditate on the importance to God of each of these. God is God. Appreciating Him and all He is involves more than a passing comment. Forgiveness is one of the most important manifestations of the Life of God. And Truth is God.
Failing to walk in the way of God in the first two lead to the latter. In fact, are indicative of not appreciating God in the first place. All three are a failing to Live in God’s Omniscience, Omnipotence, and Omnipresence.
